The “I’m Just So American, Please Ignore Me” Playbook: 10 Ways to Avoid ICE

A leaked internal briefing from the Department of Homeland Security suggests that federal enforcement is currently being “completely neutralized” by a new wave of tactical civilian camouflage. Agents are reportedly struggling to distinguish high-value targets from the background noise of a collapsing middle class.

The manual, colloquially known as the “I’m Just So American, Please Ignore Me” Playbook, outlines ten high-risk methods currently being used to achieve total federal invisibility. According to the memo, the “cynical adoption of domestic failure” has rendered traditional profiling useless.

  1. Carry a stack of ‘Final Notice’ utility bills: Debt is the primary indicator of natural-born citizenship. Use it as a shield.
  2. Rent a toddler and a ‘Student of the Month’ bumper sticker: No agent is willing to initiate a custodial interview in a PTA carpool lane.
  3. Loudly complain about the HOA’s policy on mulch color: It is statistically impossible to be an international fugitive while caring about pine bark and property values.
  4. Identify as a ‘Large Language Model’ during questioning: The government lacks the legal framework to deport a hallucinating algorithm.
  5. Always hold a lukewarm Starbucks cup with a misspelled name: Invisibility is achieved by blending into the background radiation of white-collar fatigue.
  6. Wear a ‘Department of Parks and Rec’ lanyard from 2004: Federal employees do not arrest people they assume are on the same pension plan.
  7. Pivot to a career in ‘Luxury Real Estate Influencing’: The American legal system is fundamentally incapable of prosecuting anyone standing in front of a house they don’t own.
  8. Carry a ‘Gender Reveal’ smoke cannon at all times: Forest fires are a more manageable bureaucratic disaster than an undocumented resident.
  9. Walk a purebred dog that looks more expensive than your car: Law enforcement is trained to interpret high-maintenance pets as a form of diplomatic immunity.
  10. Pretend to be an ‘Undercover Agent’ from a different, more secret agency: The U.S. government consists entirely of overlapping jurisdictions; simply claim you work for the one they haven’t heard of.
