Toys for Tots says it would have turned down the vice president's toy donation anyway.
At a rally in Rome, New York, JD Vance said his 4-year-old picked two of her brothers' toys to give away.
Despite his best efforts, he told the crowd, he had raised a Democrat.
The charity says politics never came into it. The toys were used.
A volunteer's intake form lists the toys' condition as played with, and their party as not reviewed.

Dolores Pettibone-Akers has run a collection site for 14 years. She says every December, a kid shows up with a sibling's truck, and the truck goes home.
She reviewed the case and found no ideology, only a child who was asked to give away toys and kept her own.
That's not a Democrat, she said. That's a 4-year-old.
The charity has added a rule for donations that arrive with a campaign speech. Volunteers are to accept the speech, and check the toy.
