WASHINGTON, D.C. — As the United States prepares for its 250th anniversary this July, the Semiquincentennial Commission announced today that the country will officially be rebranding the celebration as “America 2.0.” Officials stated that the original “America” brand was becoming too associated with legacy features like “free speech” and needed a modern, sustainable revenue stream to keep the lights on in the Capitol.
Under the new model, basic citizenship will remain free with limited features, but “Premium Tier” citizens will enjoy ad-free highways, priority processing at the DMV, and the ability to skip the line during national emergencies. “We looked at the data and realized that while liberty is a fantastic core value, recurring monthly revenue is the only thing that actually scales in 2026,” said rebranding consultant Marcus Thorne while unveiling a new, minimalist logo that replaces the 50 stars with a single, sleek loading icon.
Critics argue that charging $14.99 a month for the “Constitutional Protection Add-on” is a violation of the founding documents, but the Commission countered that the Bill of Rights was originally a “limited-time beta offer” that has long since expired. The new “Founding Fathers Pro” plan will also include a blue checkmark next to your Social Security number to signify status, as well as 20% off all federal fines and a complimentary “I Paid for Democracy” tote bag.
As of press time, the Treasury Department was reportedly considering a “Family Plan” that allows up to five dependents to enjoy the pursuit of happiness, provided they don’t exceed their monthly data cap on protesting.
