Trump’s Endorsement Questionnaire Adds Required Jawline Measurement

To get the president's endorsement, Republican candidates now have to list their voting record, their top donors and the exact angle of their jaw.

Republicans seeking President Donald Trump’s endorsement before the midterms must now complete a revised questionnaire that asks for their voting record, their top donors and, in a new required Section 4, the angle of their jawline in degrees.

The change follows a string of rallies at which the president has graded candidates on looks. In Highland Heights, Ky., on Saturday, he called House candidate Ed Gallrein, a former Navy SEAL, “beautiful” and “central casting,” then praised Ohio Sen. Jon Husted as “a perfect person, good-looking guy” after describing a close study of Husted’s shoulders, feet, hands and jawline.

Section 4 asks for all four. Candidates must also attach two headshots, one facing forward and one “facing a crowd that has just been told about you.” Policy positions have moved to Section 11, which is optional and printed on the back, beneath the box for shoe size.

Campaigns are scrambling. “We spent eight months building a ground game, and it turns out the ground game was his calves,” said Darla Fennimore, 38, who manages a House campaign outside Indianapolis. “We canceled the town hall. He’s doing lunges in the parking lot.”

Demand has also spiked for Corbin Chiselton, 51, a former orthodontics sales rep in Mason, Ohio, who now sells “campaign-grade jaw definition” from a strip-mall suite next to a vape shop. “I had a state senate candidate in here Tuesday clenching so hard he cracked a molar,” Chiselton said. “He told me he’d rather lose a tooth than lose the district.”

Current indications suggest the form is working. On Saturday the president claimed, without evidence, that Husted had gained “9 or 10 points since I talked about that,” and at least three campaigns have since written to ask whether he could please talk about their candidate’s knees.
