MegaCon Leaves Local Hotels with Lowest Water Bills of the Year as Cosplayers Stick to Tradition

ORLANDO, FL — Following this year’s highly anticipated MegaCon, local hotels have reported record-low water usage, attributing the drop to what many are calling the “unshakable dedication” of cosplayers to convention tradition: skipping showers for the entire weekend.

“It’s incredible,” said hotel manager Susan Ramirez. “We usually brace for skyrocketing water bills during large events, but MegaCon is the exception. The showers remain untouched, and the only water being used is to refill energy drink coolers.”

Convention organizers insist they provide hygiene reminders, but cosplayers remain adamant about sticking to the “no showers, no problem” culture. “Look, I’m dressed as an anime character who’s been fighting demons for three days,” said attendee Tyler “KitsuneKing” Morales. “Smelling like I just emerged from battle adds authenticity.”

The ripple effect has been felt citywide, with janitorial staff praising the low shower usage for making bathroom cleanups a breeze. “It’s ironic,” said one hotel housekeeper. “The only thing we’ve cleaned are mirror smudges from people doing last-minute cosplay makeup checks.”

At publishing time, the hotel association was considering offering discounts to future MegaCon attendees as a thank-you for their “water-saving efforts”—provided they agree to leave the convention floor before local wildlife starts mistaking them for fellow inhabitants.
